The spring sun has certainly taken it’s time this year, so are you still a bit pasty?

If you are after some help with your healthy glow (after all a fake tan is the ‘safest’ way to get a tan), then here are some tips on how to get a lovely tan with the

Mary Kay Subtle Tanning Lotion:

Step 1: Exfoliate

One of the most important things you should do before applying the tanning lotion is to prepare your skin, this includes: cleansing, moisturizing and exfoliating your skin. Always take a shower and exfoliate your whole body before applying tanning lotion. When exfoliating you remove the dead skin cells, creating a smooth and firm surface that is essential to achieve a perfect application of any tanning product. Choose a gentle body exfoliator like our Loofah Body Cleansers which are infused with tiny bits of natural loofah fibre that remove surface impurities or the Satin Body Buffing Cream. Start exfoliating from your feet, working up to your neck and back, don’t forget your hands, elbows and knees. Rinse thoroughly. Exfoliating your body properly will ensure that the tan will not look patchy or uneven.

Step 2: Apply the lotion

Mary Kay’s Subtle Tanning lotion is a lightweight, non-greasy formula that glides on evenly for a gradual bronze glow that is natural enough to look real. It smells beautifully of coconut (does not leave a nasty smell). Gently rub in the product with soft, circular motions. Apply the lotion evenly and make sure there are no missing spots, patches or hard lines. Apply the tanning lotion very carefully around your knees, ankles and feet. Pay special attention to your elbows and apply sparingly on your hands as your hands tend to be a shade or two darker than your arms. It can be very difficult for you to apply the tanning lotion to your back, so it’s best to ask a friend to do it for you. The Mary Kay Subtle tanning lotion will not streak and you will build up a beautiful natural looking tan over about a week. Then just keep topping up 2-3 times a week. The lotion absorbs very quickly into your skin and you will not need to wait very long to put your clothes back on.

Step 3. Don’t forget the sunscreen
You can use this product on your face, make sure you follow with sunscreen or a moisturiser with SPF. Please note that most tanning lotions do not contain sunscreen so you must use a sunscreen product before exposure to the sun to protect your skin against sunburn, ageing and skin cancer.
